As
we age, there are classic clinical indicators such
as peri-orbital rhytides, naso-labial
lines and over all facial textural lines and wrinkles.
These signs of aging are primarily
found in individuals over the age of 40 and will vary
depending on one’s genetic
structure, environment and personal lifestyle. With our
society’s strive for youth, the
demand to minimize and reduce these signs of aging is
becoming increasingly popular.
Now due to the advances in aesthetic medical technologies
such as non ablative facial
skin tightening, wrinkle reduction and the commercial
availability of these technologies,
supply is catching up with demand and the market is growing
at double digit rates
annually.
The
Technology
The TRIO SkinTightener is a device that uses bi-polar radio-frequency (RF) energy.
The
RF energy penetrates into the skin and causes heating
of the deeper tissue with neo-collagen. The system incorporates a unique
proprietary Auto Focus 3D feature that allows the user to direct RF energy to
specific depths from superficial epidermal penetration to deep subcutaneous
fat layers for cellulite reduction.
RF Properties of the Technology
The TRIO SkinTightener generates up to 50 watts of RF energy with continuous
emission delivered through the system’s three handpieces. The energy delivered
to the
skin provides penetration depths of approximately 2mm - 4mm. Maximal RF current
is in
the area of the skin between the two contacting electrodes. Each handpiece is
designed to
optimize the temperature distribution so that there is the greatest effect in
the dermis.
Other features of the system include, contact epidermal
cooling in the facial handpiece to
cool the surface of the facial skin and allow more
efficient delivery of the RF energy, and
energy percentage selection button to help deliver
more or less energy and thus increase or decrease the
speed at which the dermal layer of skin is heated to
the target temperature and a control to time the length
of each treatment.
